IT'S TIME TO TAKE ACTION

Roe V. Wade, the Supreme Court ruling that women have a constitutional right to abortion, is all but gone. And, right-leaning state legislatures are so confident the decision is on its last legs that they have been passing a succession of abortion bans to prevent people from getting the reproductive care they need and punitive measures meant to take down the doctors who deliver that care.

That’s not all. Much to the satisfaction of the evangelical right’s forced birthers, the Trump Administration even has passed regulations, now being considered by the Supreme Court, that would end employee birth control coverage under the Affordable Care Act. What’s more, in a first for an American president, Trump in 2020 addressed the so-called March for Life, telling cheering attendees: “Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House. … We’ve taken decisive action to protect the religious liberty, so important, religious liberty, has been under attack all over the word and, frankly, very strongly attacked in our nation.”

So, no matter how disapproving evangelicals are with Trump’s history of misogyny, infidelity, lying and lack of participation in organized religion before becoming president, they are committed supporters of his and of Vice President Mike Pence because, together, the two are delivering on promises of a policy shake-up and judicial appointments. That means you must keep your eyes on the prize too and vote accordingly in November.
